The sun has started to shine here in Hampshire and Spring is finally in the air, which means the bees are starting to buzz about as they set to work. There is something about bees that just makes me smile, and they are the inspiration for this weeks project for Visible Image.
I began with some watercolour card stock and the Daisy Daisy stencil, which I sprayed a combination of Dylusions and Distress ink sprays through to create a background.
I then stamped and embossed the large bee from the Bee Happy set.
I used the honeycomb background stamp with Distress Embossing Glaze around the edge to frame the image and randomly coloured some of the hexagons in coordinating colours.
If you look closely at a bees wings they are so detailed, so to emphasise this I added a layer of crackle glaze over the top, and I used watercolour paint to colour his body.
I then decided that there was space for the smaller bees too, so added those around the sentiment before mat and layering on black and gold card to finish.
Roll on the summer and more bees making us happy ( isn't it funny that wasps on the other hand definitely do not induce smiles!)
