Better With Ice Cream

It's hot hot hot here today and right now I could definitely devour an ice cream. I am trying to be good and eat healthily though so instead I have been busy crafting some with the refreshingly cool Better With Ice Cream stamp set from Visible Image. Just perfect for guilt free summer crafting!

I began this card by creating a background with Distress Oxide inks, applying them to my craft mat, spritzing with water and dabbing my watercolour card stock into it.

I then took co ordinating Distress Glaze powders and embossed splats from the Ink Splats stamp set. This is such a useful stamp for the stash and works so well with the ice creams to add a melting drippy feel.

The brilliant Broken Mesh layering die reminds me of a waffle cone, so I just had to include that. Once die cut I painted it in watercolour.

I stamped, coloured and fussy cut three ice creams ( guilt free calories remember haha!) , and adhered them over the mesh back ground using 3D glue gel to add dimension.

Some stickles made the perfect drippy sauce. Yum!

And of course no whippy ice cream is complete without a flake! Deliciously good!

This was so much fun to make. I can't wait to serve up some more inspiration with it soon. In the meantime why not pop across to the Visible Image socials and hit follow for plenty more inspiration from my talented design team mates. They have all been very busy lately and there is so much to see.

Dragonfly Reflection

Summer is here and todays project for Visible Image is inspired by the dragonflies that flit around on our the lakes in our local woodland. I love to watch them glistening in the sunshine. Truly magical!

I began by creating a background on watercolour card with Lindys Magical Shakers. I love these little powder pots- they have a beautiful shimmer to them.

I then stamped the background stamps from the Dragonfly Reflection stamp set in various complimenting colours.  I also used the Round In Circles set - SUCH a useful one to have on the craft desk for adding extra interest to your backgrounds.

I positioned the dragonfly and stamped and heat embossed.

I coloured the wings, and added more dimension to the background by applying Gellitex paste through the Off The Grid stencil and sprinkling ultra fine gold glitter over the top and leaving to air dry.

I wanted my dragonfly to have the beautifully detailed individual wings that are also included in the set. For this I used a stamping platform. I lay my paper down, and positioned the acetate holder sheet on top. I placed the wing stamps over the top, closed the lid to pick up the stamps before removing the acetate and stamping them.

I then masked the wings and stamped and embossed the body

I fussy cut it out and coloured the wings and added stickles.

When dry I added some fibres underneath before adhering in place.

I them stamped my sentiment and masked it before stamping the fibres over the top. I created this card with one arm in a plaster cast so the word resilience definitely seemed appropriate!
