Break Free Mixed Media Canvas

Today's DT project for Visible Image is a mixed media canvas, featuring the stunning Break Free set as the main focal point. This was so much fun to make!

I started with a piece on thick backing board recycled from a paper pad. I adhered corrugated cardboard and used the Ink Swirls stencil and texture paste for my base layer .

Once the texture paste was dry, I applied generous smatterings of Izink sand texture paste and left to air dry.

The next stage was to cover with gesso and again. leave to dry ( I am SO impatient when it comes to things drying so these steps were very frustrating for me haha!)

Then cam the fun part! I set to work with a combination of spray paints and distress oxide sprays.

They reacted beautifully together and just look at that texture!

Once the paint was dry ( yes, more drying!!) , I used the fabulous new Grunge Tones stamps with white paint to add more texture, and added paint splatters with a fan brush.

I used the Break Free stamp set, embossed in white, on an inky mop up sheet I had to hand, and fussy cut. I added more texture by mounting it on top of some sisal. I just love the natural fibres for creating interest.

I added the sentiment from the Lost for Words set and layered on black card to finish.

Robot Data - Visible Image DT Post

I just love the Visible Image character stamps and the Robot Data set is a firm favourite for cards for kids. The baby robot is so cute and he is my feature for todays card, along with the Short Circuit, Square Route, and Count Me in stencils.

I had some prints using the stencils that I  had created on the gelli plate a while ago, so started with them as my base. I stamped the small elements stamps randomly over the top.

I die cut two circles from  coordinating gelli prints and used silver texture paste through the Short Circuit stencil on one, and stamped the data stamp on the other. While the texture paste dried I coloured my little robot using Copic markers. I also cut a few of the flowers from Total Chaos and adhered around the edges of my base piece.

Once everything was dry I assembled the card, adding a black die cut behind the circles to add more dimension and to make the whole card 'pop'.

Summer Dream - Visible Image DT Post

Today I have a journal page to share using some wonderfully summery stamps and stencil from Visible Image. The sun has started to shine here in Hampshire and I am definitely feeling brighter for it. Yesterday I even spotted butterflies dancing around my garden to help inspire me.

I started this page by creating a background with the Daisy stencil and spray inks on my gelli plate.

I love the randomness of using a gelli plate, as you never quite know how your print will turn out. This one I was very happy with. The yellow background had some lovely detail of the negative of the stencil, but I also wanted a positive image so I inked directly onto it, then spritzed with water and pressed to the page.

Then I set to work with more layers, stamping bold  flowers from Imperfection Is Beauty in co ordinating colours...

... and then the outlined ones in black Versafine.  I also used the Random Art of Kindness set for this part.

I coloured in the flowers with Sparkle Pens.

And for more detail added some Get Crackled gel.

While the gel dried I stamped and cut some butterflies from the Wings of Change and Summer Wings sets and doodled some highlights on.

Once the crackle was dry I adhered the butterflies and used watercolour ink to add a shadow around them to finish.

I don't know about you, but I can't wait for Summer days in the garden now!
