Visible Image Valentine Card

Well, February is almost upon us, which means Valentines Day is looming. I must admit, I'm not one for celebrating love on that particular day, it's all a bit commercial and sloppy for my liking and i'm not that kind of gal. Romance should be spontaneous and all year round don't you think? My hubby seems to have got it right- only today he surprised me with lunch out and then a beautiful bunch of flowers. Its taken almost 25 years but I seem to have him well trained now!

So, with my non mushy stance on Valentines in mind, I've taken romance all grungy and have been playing around with my oxide inks and Visible Image stamps today and this card emerged. I've used the Heart Incognito, Somewhere In Time sets , and Love You Longer sentiment. They work beautifully together I think.

Visible Image Birthday Card Using Time Sets

I don't know about you, but I always find male birthday cards are a bit of a challenge. That's one of the reasons that I love my stamp collection from Visible Image  so much. Their stamps are really unique and definitely appeal to my inky grungy side.

This is a card I made last night for my brother in laws upcoming birthday. I used stamps from their Ahead of Our Time, Somewhere in Time, Scripted Streets, and Destination Unknown sets, which were stamped over a background created with Distress Oxide inks. A touch of Frantage powder added a little extra interest over the top.

I'm so pleased that Helen and Mark had such an amazing and successful time at Creativation at the weekend, but I am glad they are safely back home now and back to work as I am waiting for some more stamps to arrive from their new release. How exciting!

Creative Artiste January Challenge DT Post

Happy new year folks! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and Santa filled your stockings with lots of crafty  goodies. If he didn't though, never fear as we have a new challenge over at Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge Blog with a fabulous prize of a 30% discount on offer from the brilliant Tando Creative ( discount applies only to TANDO products) .

Tando do so many amazing things  for mixed media fans to enjoy. I recently had a little splurge myself and was so excited to get playing to create my DT piece of a small wall plaque for this months challenge. I hope you like it. I adore the little whimsical houses and they are such good value too .

To create my plaque I used a greyboard base from Tando, which I gesso'd over and then sponge painted with Americana acrylic paints. I lightly stamped some script text in versafine ink to add more interest. The papers used on the house are by Lost and Found, and I distressed the edges and doodled around. I stamped some foliage using my Indigo Blu Laurel Leaves stamps, and hand drew some heart flowers amongst them which I then painted with Dylusions paints. The sentiment is from Lavinia Stamps, and the main heart stamp was from a set that came free in a magazine ages ago and I coloured it with twinkling H20 paints.

Altered Box

Christmas is over, the presents unwrapped and in many households the packaging discarded. In my case however I have salvaged what packaging I can, determined to re purpose some of it. I hate waste so to me recycling into craft is the perfect way to keep it out of land fill.

One of my lovely clients gifted me some Yankee Candle wax tarts and they came in the most beautiful and sturdy box. I decided it was far too handy to waste, so had a rummage through my stash and with some gesso, paint, scrapbook papers and Visible Image stamps I created a pretty new box for some of my ever growing collection of pens to go in. I'm thrilled with hos it turned out.

I'll be back soon with more projects to share.

Happy new year!
