Snowflake Fairy by MoonFlower

Hi folks! I am sure you are all crazily busy with it being the last weekend before Christmas, but I wanted to pop on and share a card I have made using the stunning Snowflake Fairy by MoonFlower. She really is breathtaking and I don't mind admitting I was a teeny bit scared at the thought of colouring her up! Hopefully I did Andreia's art justice though. She was lots of fun to do once I got going.

I coloured her in copics, keeping the tones nice and soft using whites and pinks. All snow fairies need a bit of sparkle so I added silver stickles pretty much everywhere I could! The background was created with a mask and tumbled glass distress ink, and some flowersoft gave a really snowy feel to the card.

Have a Beary- Merry Christmas

I am always terribly last minute when it comes to making my Christmas cards, and this year has been no exception. As one of five children, all of whom have growing families of our own, you can imagine how long the card list is, and it certainly keeps me busy through November and December as no way could I ever send them production line shop bought ones!

Today's card I am sharing was made for my eldest sister Paula, and her husband Stuart. Paula is a teddy bear artist by trade. She makes the most stunning collectible bears ( if you love all things furry you can check out her work here). I wanted her card to be personal to her work, and the little bear stamp from Indigo Blu was the perfect stamp for the job. I was so happy when I realised it fitted in my snow globe stamp ( which came free with a magazine recently) as it created a perfect look for Christmas.

I created the sentiment in Craft Artist, and printed on mixed media card stock before stamping the image underneath. The background was made by stamping and embossing snowflake stamps by Visible Image then going over with tumbled glass distress ink. I added some frantage for more dimension, and mounted on silver mirror card.

I have been so busy with digis lately that it felt good to get properly inky again. You can't beat some good old fashioned rubber stamping!

Julia Spiri December Challenge DT Post

It's time for the final challenge of the year over at Julia Spiri Challenge Blog and as always the theme is Anything Goes with an Optional Twist. This time the twist is 'dolls house'. This one was so much fun to do!

I have had a blank MDF money box that's been in need of altering, sat in my cupboard for almost a year, and this was the perfect challenge to inspire me to dig it out and use it. I teamed it with the very cute Little Fairy digi, turning it into an adorable house for her to dwell in.

First I painted the roof in acrylic paint, and added a tile effect with a mask and grey paint. Once dry I cut to size papers from a 12x12 paper pad called Ella Blue, made by GCD Studios and adhered to the walls. The windows and door are cut using my silhouette cameo, and the fence is a Tim Holtz die cut. I finished with little flowers all around from my stash.

I have to say I am thrilled with how the project came together, and I am hoping my youngest daughter will be too as it is a gift for her birthday. I am hoping it will encourage her to save her pocket money to buy new furniture for the dolls house we are buying her for her birthday, just before Christmas.

We would love to see your entries so do join in if you can. You don't have to use the twist, or even Julia Spiri images, but there are some amazing ones to choose from in the Etsy Shop if you fancy treating yourself to some new images. You can also join our Facebook Page to keep up to date with all new releases and share your work using her adorable digis.

I'll take this opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas. I hope Santa stuffs your stockings with some crafty goodness and you enjoy some family time with your loved ones.

Gigi Poinsettia- MoonFlower DT Post

I'm a teeny bit late sharing my project for MoonFlower this month but I am hoping she was worth the wait!

As soon as I saw her I had the idea that she would sit nicely in a wreath of festive flowers. I wasn't convinced I could make it work, but after four nights of stamping, embossing fussy and die cutting and building the flowers it started to take shape. The flowers are a combination of stamps by my favourite stamp company Visible Image, and sizzix dies. They were so much fun to make!

Gigi Poinsetta is coloured using a combination of copics and promarkers, printed to size to fit the circle and fussy cut. She was a freebie in a recent newsletter, so if you haven't signed up yet do hop to the blog and subscribe by email as I would hate you to miss out.

I have to say I am thrilled with how she turned out and she is decorating my hallway as I type, ready to welcome any visitors over the Christmas period.

Because I love Christmas I have made two cards to inspire, one with the twist and one without. Sadly the first image, cute as it is, is now retired from the Sellfy store, but the good new is that my second choice, Holiday Greetings can be found here.

April Elf by Julia Spiri

Ok so I know people's thoughts are turning to winter and Christmas now, but I am still in Autumn mode and refuse to accept winter is here until at least the first of December, so I wanted to share a card I made using April Elf by Julia Spiri. I just LOVE her! Autumn is my favourite season. I just love the colours, the smells and the cosy nights in front of the fire it brings. I actually made it a few weeks ago but life and work got in the way of sharing. She is way too stunning to escape blog land though so she's putting in a late appearance!

She is coloured in copics. The leaves are die cut using a Tim Holtz die, and the flowers are a mixture of shop bought and handmade by me.

Oh and while I think on it, there is a new challenge over at Julia Spiri Challenge Blog with the theme as Anything Goes with a Twist of Alter Something. You may want to check it out!

Dulphina Miss Reindeer by MoonFlower

Everywhere I look there are signs of Christmas popping up around me  (in fact one lady I know already has her tree up even though it's not Decemebr yet!), and so I am embracing my Christmas crafting at last as there is no denying it's coming!

Today I am sharing a card made with Dulphina Miss Reindeer by MoonFlower. She is so sweet. I couldn't resist colouring her in deer colours, using copics. I set her in a pine forest, using stamps by Visible Image and a masking technique. The sky and snow were gently brushed in with distress inks, and some glitter on the trees and floor added the final touch.

Thanks for stopping by to see my work.

My Very Own Festive Fairy

I am SO thrilled to share with you this amazing digi by the incredibly talented Cheri at Karleigh Sue. Recently we celebrated Karleigh Sue's first birthday over on the Facebook Fan Page, and as a thank you for being a member of the team from the very start Cheri gifted me a custom digi.

After much pondering, I opted for a fairy as I do have a bit of an obsession for all things mythical, and fairies are one of my favourite things so it seemed a good choice. I have to say I was blown away with the finished image when she sent it to me. I am beyond thrilled with it!

Initially I was going to make a card with her, but I just couldn't bring myself to give my first creation featuring her away. With Christmas almost upon us I decided to turn her into a festive decoration instead so she can hang upon my tree, sparkling amid the fairy lights. I think she will look beautiful on it!

Thank you SO much Cheri. I adore her, I really do. And I can't wait to see what the next year will bring for Karleigh Sue! I am having a ball being on your team and hope to be with you for a while to come :)

Autumn Birthday Card

I love Autumn and it impossible not to be inspired by all the gorgeous colours that surround us at the moment, and so when I was asked to create a birthday card from two cheeky little chaps for their Nanny who loves gardening, I just had to make a card to reflect the season.

Going through my digis I stumbled across Fall Breeze Chris and Little Scarecrow Jude by Simply Betty. I used Craft Artist to merge them, and coloured them in a combination of promarkers and copics. They really do remind me of the two little boys that are sending the card so it was perfect!

The papers are from the Desert Blooms collection by First edition. I teamed it with some hessian ribbon and some co coordinating beads, with a little bird to embellish.

Karleigh Sue- One For The Boys Challenge DT Post

It's time for a new challenge over at Karleigh Sue and this month the theme is 'One For The Boys'. This is a nice easy theme as there are SO many images in the Sellfy store to choose from that I am positive would put a smile on any fella's face!

I chose to use Hump Day, and gave my card an uber sexy feel using black and red as my colour palette. I kept the card fairly simple, just using a little lace and some pearls to embellish, and created a cheeky little sentiment with scrapbook letter tiles.

We would love to see your entries, so do play along if you can. You don't have to use a Karleigh Sue image but we love it when you do of course!

Not Just Cards November Challenge DT Post

It's time for the November Anything Goes challenge over at Not Just Cards and as always we have some great sponsors.

I have chosen to work with a gorgeous image from SLS Lines

The digi is called Winter Fairy Ice Queen and you can find her  here.

I found an old set of watercolour paints this week so decided to give them a go on this to create a soft winter feel. I gave the image some dimension by using flowersoft on her dress and for the snow on the ground. A little glitter to her wings also helped give some winter sparkle.

I watercoloured the background, and stmaped and embossed snowflakes on it. I finished the wintery look with some sprinkles of frantage.

The backing paper is from Papermania, and both that and the small tree embellishment were bought from That Craft Place.

We would love to see your entries so please play along.

Happy Crafting!

I have used Prissy Peacock. I absolutely adore peacocks so it was the obvious choice for me!

She is coloured using copics and promarkers. The backing paper is from the Neroli paper pad by First Edition. Some co coordinating lace, gems and a gorgeous peacock feather added the finishing touches.

Princess in Castle- Julia Spiri Challenge DT Post

It's new challenge time at Julia Spiri and as always the theme is 'Anything Goes' with a twist. This week the twist is 'use something old'.

I have worked with Princess in Castle, coloured with copics. I really enjoyed playing with this one and creating the stone background. My 'something old' is the bird embelishments, which I've held on to for ages knowing that one day I would find the right project for them!

We would love to see your entries so do play along if you can.

Vampire Countess by MoonFlower

Halloween is coming and the lovely Andreia at MoonFlower is turning out some amazing images to mark the occasion. I have been working with Vampire Countess recently- isn't she a stunner!!

I got brave and decided to have a go at monochrome. I'm quite pleased for a first attempt. I mounted her into a card frame, decorated with dark flowers and flourishes , to show her off as a home decor project over the halloween period.

Girl With Mushroom- Julia Spiri Challenge DT Post

It's time for a new challenge over at Julia Spiri Challenge Blog. As always, the theme is Anything Goes with a twist, and this moth that twist is die cuts and/or punches.

I chose to work with Girl With Mushroom. Autumn is my absolute favourite season so I couldn't resist her! I coloured her with copics, and created a shaped card using dies, which I embellished with flowers, buttons and a sentiment. The leaves were cut from paper scraps ( I hate wasting anything!) using a punch.

We would love to see your entries so play along if you can. You don't have to use a Julia Spiri image or even add the twist, but we love it when you do of course!

Don;t forget you can also keep up to date with all Julia Spiri news and general chat on the Facebook Fan Page. We really enjoy seeing all your creations there.

Happy Birthday Charlie!!

Not quite sure who stole the last 16 years from me but it only seems like yesterday that I took the leap into motherhood, and today the baby that changed my life turned sweet 16!!

Fortunately for her, as she was born in the pre digital camera age I don't actually have a baby photo on my pc to share, but here is a recent one of her that was taken earlier this year at my sister's wedding. I know I am biased but I think she's beautiful!

Of course I had to make a card for her and as she loves all thinks Emo I used Emo Willow Gift from Make It Crafty. Normally I like to go a bit mad with embellishments but decided to keep this one CAS, just adding a sentiment using Craft Artist. Now she is 16 of course a new grown up world begings to open  there are certain things she is now legally allowed to do. I am relieved to say the one she's joked about most is that she is  able to walk in a shop and buy a lawnmower! I couldn't resist adding that to the card to make her smile (and it did!).

I couldn't be prouder of the young woman she has become and wish her every happiness for her 16th year. I'm sure it will be an exciting one!!

Happy birthday Charlie!

All my love

Crystal Ball Witch by MoonFlower- DT Post

It's October, the nights are drawing in and that can only mean one thing- Halloween is coming!! Andreia has been drawing some incredible images to help your celebrations along so do take a look at the shop if you need some stunningly spooky images to work with.

For this card I have used Crystal Ball Witch. I set myself the challenge of colouring her in pencils ( I used Spectrum Noir) and I have to admit it took a fair while so I was a bit late getting this submitted by my DT deadline-oops! I hope she was worth the wait though! I created a background moon using techniques I have been learning in my online colouring classes by Kit and Clowder (They are well worth checking out if you want to improve your own colouring).

The backing paper and sentiments are from the Steampunk Spells range by Graphic 45. The web and spider were cut on my silhouette cameo.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look! Don't forget, if you love MoonFlower then also check out the Facebook page to share in some fun and keep up to date.

Karleigh Sue Sexy Sheriff- October Challenge DT Post

Woohoo it's time for a new challenge over at Karleigh Sue! This time the theme is 'Kraft' , which worked perfectly for my project.

I chose to work with Sexy Sheriff. I coloured her with copics and fussy cut her. I used a kraft stepper card, which I decrated with coordinating brown paper from my stash. The jail,  and wanted poster were cut with my cameo ( which I am rapidly falling in love with and wondering why I didn't buy ages ago- what an amazing tool!!). I added a saucy little stamped sentiment to the poster with alphabet stamps and the fence was created using a Tim Holtz die.

We would love to see your entries so do play along if you can. You don;t have to use a Karleigh Sue image but of course we love it when you do. Check out the Sellfy store- there are some amazing ones to choose from!

Not Just Cards October Challenge- DT Post and Blog Hop WINNER!!

I'm not sure where September disappeared too, but here we are in October which means it's time for another Anything Goes Challenge over at Not Just Cards. We have some amazing sponsors this month and I have chosen to work with images from two of them.

My first project is using an image that can be found at Stitchy Bear

She is called Goth Prom Queen and you can find her here.

The second I saw this digi I thought of my daughter Charlie, who is already planning her prom outfit for when she leaves school next year. She has a style all of her own, and although I don't know yet what she has in mind I am pretty sure it won't be pink or frilly and will feature a fair bit of black!

I have created a scrapbook page ready to put a picture of her in all her finery in when the time comes ( so excuse the blank space!).

The second sponsor I have worked with is Ikes Art

I adore little baby feet ( who doesn't?!) so couldn't resist working with New Baby to create a baby girl card. I just love the tenderness of this image. So sweet!

We would love to see your entries this month so play along if you can. There are some great prizes available so you won't want to miss out!

Now, on to announcing the winner of last month's Birthday Blog Hop at Not Just Cards. Congratulations bello amanecer  you have won all of the digi stamps that I used in my hop projects. Please email me at lyndaschildcare@gmail.com. You have until the end of the 11th October to claim your prize so be quick!!
