Healing Takes Time- Art Journal Page

This week for my design team project for Visible Image I have created an art journal page focusing on mental health. Visible Image have so many great stamps that can be used to offer emotional support to those we care about, and this particular set- Don't Judge, is one of my favourites.

It's been ages since I have used my gelatos so I decided to dust them off for the background of my page. I first applied a layer of gesso to my watercolour journal and once dry I randomly scribbled some pastel tones.

I then blended these with a wet wipe .

Rather than adding colour through the Supernova stencil, I wanted to stick with a gentle feel to the page by lifting some. A gentle rub through the gaps with the wet wipe helped to achieve the soft look I was aiming for.

I then took the How Fragile stamp set an stamped the cracks in blue.  I didn't get a perfect impression as I was stamping on watercolour card and didn't use a stamp press, but this wasn't a problem as I planned to cover the centre over anyway.

I stamped the images I wanted to use from Don't Judge onto the page, and also onto some co ordinating inky card stock, which I then fussy cut and adhered in place.

Some black outlines around the images help them to pop. I also added some black ink splats to finish.

Focus on The Good Things in 2024

It's the first week of January and traditionally a time for us to start the year with good intentions. This year I have made a few promises to myself, and this project for Visible Image pretty much sums them all up!
Like many people, I really want to save a few pennies this year, and one of my crafty resolutions is to use up some of the many substrates I have accumulated before I buy any more ( which will also help with my decluttering aim). One of those items just happened to be an mdf money box- the perfect thing for my project!

I began by applying a layer of white gesso over the box.

I then spritzed it with water and dabbed on a fabulous gel stain product called Unicorn Spit ( lets face it- the name alone makes it very cool!) .

Before this was able to dry I added quite a lot more water, which helped the colours to blend together.

The next step was to lift the excess moisture with a paper towel and then leave to air dry completely.

When dry the effect is lovely and subtle and perfect for stamping and inking over.

I added another layer with Archival ink and the Two Tone stencil all over the box. I really love this stencil for backgrounds as it just adds a little dimension to a project.

Then came the stamping. I used two very appropriate sentiments from the Happiness Matters set and the small flower and heart that are also included. I stamped in Versafine Clair ink and heat dried this before painting the elements with posca pens.

I am really looking forward to putting my focus in to a very creative 2024 and bringing you lots more inspiration using gorgeous Visible Image goodies. The year ahead promises to be super exciting so do follow along on the links below to keep up to date with new releases, news and tons of inspiration from myself and the rest of the very talented design team.
