Unicorns- A new Release from Julia Spiri

I am so excited to be sharing today's new release from Julia Spiri. I love all things magical, and especially unicorns and boy has she drawn some beautiful ones for you to enjoy.

The first is simply called The Unicorn and you can find it here. I coloured her in copics with wink of stella over the top, and gave even more sparkle by creating a dotty background using up my scraps of glitter paper and some snazzy ribbon.

Challenges:

The second image has yet to be named but you can find it in the shop here. There will be a game over on the Facebook page giving you the opportunity to name it so pop across and play along.

This is such a tender image that I wanted to give my card a soft magical feel. I created a shaker card and put them amid a flower meadow- so sweet!

Challenges:

My team mates creations are also stunning so pop across to the blog to check them out as they are amazing inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by

Dare to Swim

So it seems yesterday turned out to be a real Visible Image kind of day. I just can't help it- I get my box of their stamps out and can't stop playing with them! Yesterday I shared my skull card, today I am sharing a mixed media card I created using their Fibres Stencil, and stamps from the Dare to Swim set. I just love those wibbly jellyfish!

The background was created with Distress Oxides, which I then went through the stencil with distress ink on top. The images are all stamped direct to the card and heat embossed with glttery powder and painted in twinkling H2O paints. I also added nuvo drops and perfect pears for extra sparkle.

Skull Card

This week I have taken delivery of some awesome new stamps and stencils from Visible Image. If you're a regular reader of my blog you will know what a huge fan I am of their stamps, but now they have branched into stencils too I am really looking forward to taking my projects to another level and playing with them.
Today I have had a go with Skull Shadow, teamed with a sentiment from Tomorrow Doesn't Exist, exploring my dark side in a message from the grave type way. I really think they just work together so well!

I must confess, this project was a bit of a happy accident. I had some old distress crackle paint that I attempted painting through the stencil over a card coloured with distress oxides. It didn't crackle right as was a bit gloopy so I tried heat setting it as an experiment. It bubbled and crackled away, and then the magic happened and some amazing texture was the result.

I reapplied the mask to protect the inked area, then used gilding polish in black and purple to add depth and emphasised the edges with a charcoal pencil to finish it off.

It just goes to show- there are no mistakes in crafting. This could so easily have ended up in the bin but with a bit of patience and reworking it turned out better than I could have imagined!

Thanks for popping by. I'll be back with another project very soon!

Creative Artiste Mixed Media Blog November Challenge

It's the first Friday of the month which can only mean one thing- a brand new challenge over at Creative Artiste- yippee!!

This month we are kindly sponsored by Lindy's Stamp Gang.

My project to inspire is a box canvas, featuring multiple layers of paper, paint, texture paste, Lindy's embossing powder,  and, well, anything I could throw at it to be honest! I wanted to create something with a romantic shabby feel, so added hearts, die cuts and flowers to soften the grungy inky look. The stamp is a Prima Doll by Julie Nuttall.

I hope you will join us this month and play along.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

Have a lovely crafty weekend!

Face It - Mixed Media Journal Page

Good morning! It's Friday, and what a long week it has been here. Lots of fun too but a working week caring for four 2yr olds has well and truly kept me on my toes, and so last night I felt the urge to indulge myself for a bit and relax with my inks and stamps, and this journal page was the result.

I had the idea of trying to combine two stamp sets from Visible Image , Face It and Capture The Moment, to create the focal point for my piece, firstly stamping the face, masking off one eye, and then stamping the camera and embossing it to give it a shiny look. Using the Face Shape and Mask stencil set, I coloured the face area with a light coating of Spun Sugar distress ink. I then inked up the background in a combination of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, Shaded Lilac and Salty Ocean distress ink. I bleached out some stripy circles using a mask and wet wipe.

The hair was initially stamped using Grunge Flourish, another Visible Image stamp, which I believe is now retired. Then I used a silver and black marker to create extra depth and texture, and finished her off by colouring the eyes, mouth and also the camera with Zig watercolour pens.

The flashes were stamped using Rays of Light stamps and Wow glitter embossing powder. I think this is one of my most used stamp sets- they are perfect for backgrounds.

The sentiment was also embossed to make it pop, and I finished off with my silver marker and a star mask from Scrapmatts

Right, now it''s time for me to go and stalk the postman. There just may be a little order of new stamps about to land on my doormat which will be perfect timing for a weekends entertainment!

Have a good weekend!

Crafts Galore Encore November Challenge DT Post

The weather is turning colder and as much as I adore Autumn and could live in the season forever, Winter will soon be upon us, and of course Christmas. So my DT project this month for Crafts Galore Encore's Anything Goes November challenge was made with that in mind. This month we are kindly sponsored by Lemon Shortbread  and I have chosen to work with Winter Hood. The image was coloured with Spectrum Noir pencils and a background created with watercolour paints and an acrylic paint pen. I teamed her up with some vintage paper and an embossed piece of cardstock, which I highlighted with Pebeo gilding wax. I created a flower to add a splash of colour by stamping and embossing a poinsettia stamp from Visible Image and the sentiment is from Hunkydory.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

Thank you for stopping by. Do join in the challenge if you can as we love to see your creations.
