Captain Awesome

It's no secret that I absolutely love spending time curled up with my colouring pens bringing life to character stamps, and Captain Awesome from Visible Image is one of my all time favourites to colour. He is so perfect for cards for lads, and also Dads, because lets face it, there aren't many fellas out there who didn't grow up loving space stories. My 50 something yr old husband is still a huge Star Trek fan to this day!

Visible Image have recently release new coordinating dies to their brilliant space themed stamps, which is a real game changer, especially if you aren't a fan of fussy cutting. Enter the code DIES20 to get a fabulous 20% discount throughout September to celebrate the launch.

I started by creating a galactic background on black mixed media card stock. I lay down some Distress Oxide on to my craft mat, spritzed with water and dabbed the card in until I was happy with the coverage. I then did the same with some Distress Mica spray to add a little extra sparkle and shimmer  to my night sky.

I then took the Super Star stencil and a sheet of inky card stock I had previously sprayed with Distress Mica, drew around the star and cut out.

I then lay the entire stencil on my background and carefully applied gold glitter paste through the rays.

I removed the stencil and set aside to dry naturally.

While I waited for the paste to dry I stamped and coloured Captain Awesome and other elements with alcohol markers, and die cut. Don't they look amazing?!

I also stamped and fussy cut the space rocks and laser beam from inky card and added extra colour with Inktense pencils.

When the paste was dry I assembled my card, adhering the various images with 3D glue gel to add depth and dimension.

As well as the space collection having new coordinating dies, some of the most popular Christmas sets now also have them, so if you are prepping for the festive season do take a look over on the website and social media platforms linked below. There are also more exciting things in the pipeline from Visible Image HQ that I am sure you won't want to miss!
