Glimmer of Light

Good morning! It is my weekend to share a little Visible Image inspiration with you, and today I am focusing on the brilliant Glimmer of Light stamp set. After ten weeks of not working due to the Covid pandemic, I am finally back doing a job I love next week so I am definitely feeling like the sentiment is appropriate right now!

I started this card by spritzing black and yellow Decoart mister sprays onto mixed media card.

Then I began creating layers using the Meshing Around and Count Me In stencils.

I then placed the light bulb stamps over the yellow patches.

The next stage was so much fun! I went to town over the top with Izing Ice, which added depth to the colours and more gorgeous texture.

I deepened the yellow around the bulbs with a sparkle pen, and then added more dimension with a clear crackle glaze over the top to create a glass effect.

While that dried completely, I stamped, embossed and fussy cut the moths and sentiment ready to adhere.

Here are some close up photos for you.

Create Your Own Calm

The sun is shining, it has been a glorious week,  and oh how I have been dreaming of a trip to the seaside. However, as it's still not safe to indulge such whims I have instead lost myself under the ocean for this weeks inspiration project for Visible Image.

There really is something magical about seahorses, and this handsome one from the Create Your Own Calm set is stunning! Visible Image currently have a whopping 20% off their products with the code KEEPSTAMPING so if you fancy treating yourself make sure you have a look on the Visible Image website

I started this card with an inky mop up sheet of card. I am on a bit of a mission at the moment to use up my scraps. No idea why as I am constantly creating more so I am sure I am fighting a losing battle!

I used the Two Tone and Fibres stencils with distress ink to add a layer of detail to begin with, and then stamped some detail stamps in Archival Ink.

I took delivery of some Izink Ice this week, and some layers of that over the top really added some depth and shine and enhanced the colours.

While that was drying I stamped and embossed the seahorse on heat resistant acetate, and painted the colour onto the back of it so it just showed through the clear areas.

Once the Ice was dry, I stamped more images over the top from the Dare to Swim set, and added some embossing.

The WOW embossing brush is brilliant for applying thicker embossing powder around edges of your work to frame it.

I stamped seaweed onto another mop up scrap and fussy cut in order to create another layer of interest, and along the sea bed I added texture sand , shells and jewels.

The final steap was to adhere the seahorse and sentiment  with 3D glue to really make him stand out.

Out of Chaos Comes Creativity

I don't know about you, but while still in lock down due to Covid 19 I am trying to focus on any positives I can find in this somewhat crazy situation that we find ourselves in.  For me, one of those positives is more time to craft of course, which makes the sentiment in this card I am sharing for Visible Image  feel very appropriate indeed!

I haven't got as many step by step photos as I normally like to share for this one unfortunately, as I have had a few tech issues with my pc and appear to have lost a lot of things when we did a recent upgrade. It was quite easy to create though, so I can talk you through it.

I started with a Distress Oxide sprayed piece of card stock, which I then lay the Scribbles stencil over, and blended more ink over it. When dry I randomly stamped some detail stamps from the Total Chaos and Creative Chaos sets.

I stamped the large focal image for placement , and around it the scribble detail stamp, which I heat embossed.  On a separate piece of card I re stamped the flower a few times, painted with water colour paint, and fussy cut the petals to layer up and create depth, and added highlights with white pen.

I also stamped, coloured and cut butterflies from the Wings Of Change set.

Before adhering these, I stamped and embossed the sentiment in the corner and highlighted to make it pop.

Once the elements were in place, I spattered white paint over the entire card, and added pearl dots to the corners to finish.
