The Tin Man

Today's inspiration for Visible Image features the super cute Tin Man from the Oz collection. I just love him, and the good news for you is that he is in the current Black Friday sale ( along with a lot of other amazing stamp sets so do take a look and grab yourself a crafty bargain!).

If you aren't a fan of fussy cutting I have even more good news- this collection comes with matching dies! I started my card by stamping the images with Memento ink and colouring them with alcohol pens. then cutting them with the dies.

To create the background I blended Distress Oxide through the Square Route stencil. It had to be yellow ink of course!

I then added another layer of interest with the Ink Splats stamp, which I heat embossed to add some shine, and also a few oil cans.

To finish I used foam to mount the elements and sentiment before mat and layering on black to really make the card 'pop'.

Queen of Hearts

This weeks inspiration for Visible Image features the fabulous Queen of Hearts from their stunning Wonderland collection. I love colouring up these characters- it takes me right back to my childhood, curled up with my nose in Alice's  magical adventures.

I decided to pop a little Pride spin on my queen today and give her a rainbow backdrop and a glitzy drag queen look. It was so much fun to create. Here's how I did it...

Step 1: I created my rainbow with distress ink and used the edge of a piece of scrap paper to ensure clean lines between the colours.

Step 2: I taped the Dark Hearts stencil over the top and applied some generous layers of black ink. I couldn't quite get the depth of colour I wanted with the distress ink so switched to pouncing versafine clair Nocturn ink over it instead.

Step 3: Once happy with the depth of black, I added clear embossing powder to add some shine.

Step 4: I coloured my Queen with Copic markers and gave her some glittery eyeshadow with stickles and fussy cut. I also used a fineliner to extend her eyelashes for a more dramatic look!

Step 5: To finish I stamped the sentiment and edged it in complimenting rainbow colours. I also added sequins- because every Queen loves a  sparkly sequin!

I really hope you like my take on this classic character as much as I enjoyed making her. I will be back with more character cards soon.

Blow Out The Candles - A New Release From Visible Image

Today I am sharing a birthday card using the wonderful new Blow Out The Candles stamp set from Visible Image.

My favourite type of cake is chocolate cake, so I had to cook that up first with this set! Plus, I wanted to steer clear of the classic pink frosting and show how this stamp can used to include the cake loving men in your life!

I started with a distress oxide background,  and lay the Drizzle stencil across the top and spread Izink Ice through it in brown.

While that dried I used my Zig markers to colour the cake.

More Ice on the top gave the cake a gooey chocolatey look. Yummy!

Before this dried I sprinkle some ultra fine gold glitter over the top.

I stamped and coloured the candles, and stamped and heat embossed the spark on acetate to mount behind the flame.

Once everything was dry I mounted with 3D gel glue and added the sentiment.

This really is a must have set for the collection. After all, everybody loves cake!!

Bring On The Beers- A Visible Image NEW Release!!

I am so excited to be able to share a project on launch day itself for the brand new Visible Image release. There are 6 incredible sets to choose from, so do head over to the website to take a look. They will be so useful for cards for men and women. Something to suit everyone!

Personally I always find male cards a struggle for some reason, but this Bring On The Beers set makes them so easy. I have yet to meet a fella who doesn't enjoy a beer so this will get lots of use!

I wanted to create a bar scene for this card. I started with a distress oxide background, and added a layer of interest by swiping ink through the Square Route stencil. I then added the beer bubbles stamp over the top.

I created the bar itself with a Sizzix woodgrain embossing folder, and coloured it with distress ink.

I stamped the bottle and glass onto pre inked card and fussy cut. I wanted to add a glassy effect, and so on the bottle I added a layer of green Izink Ice and on the pint glass I applied a generous layer of Glossy Accents. Once dry, I gave my beer a frothy head using a tube of Fluffy Stuff I had in my stash ( as you heat it, it puffs up- very cool!). I also stamped and fussy cut the bottle lid.

To add to the bar feel, I used a stamping platform to stamp the smaller bottles along a pencil drawn line in the background and coloured them in and painted a shelf under them.

I adhered the glass, bottle and sentiment with 3D gel glue to add more dimension to finish.

This set and the others are all available for pre order today. Release date is 29th October. The design team have all been really busy behind the scenes making some fabulous samples, so hit the links below to check them out on social media.

Scribbled Star by Visible Image

Whether you're a fan of Christmas or not, the reality is it's coming soon and it's time to get those festive makes under way in preparation. Fortunately Visible Image can help you there as they currently have a massive promotion on their Christmas stamps and stencils with savings of a whopping 50%!!!

I have created a little inspiration for you using the Scribbled Star and Christmas Backgrounds stamps.

This was a super easy card to make, so would be great for making batches. I started by stamping and embossing the star stencil in the middle of my cardstock.

I re stamped the star on a post it note to create a mask and then using a WOW embossing pad I stamped the background stamp in the clear ink, and dusted Perfect Pearls over the top.

I stamped the star again and triple embossed with WOW Fairy Dust embossing powder for some added sparkle.

I had some floral wire in my stash and I twisted lengths of that to go behind the star, adhering with gel medium. I covered the dots in silver with a Pearl Wand to add extra dimension before placing the star on top.

I love the addition of wire to the scribble for that bit of extra texture.

Smile Bigger

Todays inspiration for Visible Image mixes up the seahorse from an old favourite set Create Your Calm. and the new sentiment set Smile Bigger.

I started with a round gelli print, on which I used the Ripped Fishnet stencil, as my base.

With Archival ink I added a layer of interest by stamping bubbles from the Butterfly Effect set, and also used some of the stamps from Dare to Swim to create an underwater scene.

When I created the background I pulled the excess paint through the stencil onto white card, so I also used this to create 'bubbles' by die cutting circles.

Inking the edges added depth.

I stamped and heat embossed the seahorse and coloured with a Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen and fussy cut. I them mounted him, along with my die cut circles with 3D gel glue. I stamped and embossed the sentiment onto Velum and adhered over the top.

To finish, I stamped the remaining sentiment stamp inside the card and added the seahorse from the VI Minis #1 set.
