Creativity

Don't you just love it when you are just 'faffing around' with no particular plan, and then something you really like emerges. That's exactly what happened with this weeks DT project for Visible Image .

I started with an old gelli print I have had lying around for at least a year ( I am on a bit of a use up mission as all my scraps are beginning to take over my craft area). This was created with some embroidery mesh laid on the plate to create the texture.

Then I added more layers with the Count Me In, Meshing Around and Square Route stencils and distress ink.

I stamped the brilliant Fibonacci stamp  in the centre, and either side I added more detail with the  Elemental background stamp.

I adore the flower from Total Chaos and had one already coloured in orange, so that was the natural choice as a main image. I stamped the image onto the card for placement, and added shading around it to make it pop before adhering my fussy cut flower head and adding highlights. I also stamped and heat embossed the circuit board stamp for another layer of interest, and added the sentiment 'Creativity' as this summed up exactly how I felt about this piece coming together. To finish I splattered white and pink Golden High Flow paint over to pull all the elements together.

Visible Image will be appearing on Create and Craft TV on Saturday 29th August at midday and 6pm with some amazing stamps and gorgeous samples to show so set your reminders and take a look if you want to see lots of lovely inspiration from the team. It's one not to be missed!

Ripped Fishnet 'Basque' - Visible Image DT Post

From the minute I saw the shape of the new Ripped Fishnet stencil from Visible Image I couldn't get the idea of a cheeky basque out of my mind, so I had to give it a go and see if I could make it work. I think I pulled it off!

I began with a sheet of card sprayed with my favourite Distress Oxide ink, then I inked through the stencil with more ink on a blending brush. The fishnet needed definition, so while chilling in front of the tv I set about outlining every edge and hole. It took a while but really made it pop!

I wanted to define the 'waist' and add a little bling. I cut a hole in each side and threaded some ribbon and a charm through to make a belt, and then I also adhered black lace to the top and bottom before mounting on black card.
This was such a bold image that I wanted a bold statement to go with it and ' No Matter How You Feel, Get Up, Dress Up and Never Give Up' from the Brave and Strong set was the obvious quote. I stamped and mat and layered that, and once I had decided on my card layout I also added words from the new Words of Support stencil lightly in the background of my base layer before mounting everything in place.
I love the way the inky image turned out looking so bold and striking against the clean white background.
